Dolphin Progress Report: Release 2503 6av2y

It's time for us to again delve into the latest changes hitting the newest release of Dolphin Emulator. If you've been keeping tabs on development channels, you'll know there are some exciting bombshell features waiting for us just over the horizon. Unfortunately, given the close proximity to this release, we've decided to hold a lot of them off so they can get more widespread testing in the development builds before hitting a release. Think of the March 2025 release as an iterative improvement that focuses on experience and stacking many small …

Dolphin Progress Report: Release 2412 62b28

Dolphin 2412 is here and we've got the details for what's new in the latest release. The biggest thing to note is that there's a lot of polishing to help make playing games a little more pleasant. Several key fixes to Dolphin's HLE audio helps bring a few more games toward audio perfection, and adjustments to Dolphin's U <-> GPU syncing reduces the number of harmless, but annoying, popup errors that happen in certain games.

That isn't to say there aren't any titles seeing significant improvements. LIT (School of Darkness) had …

After an exciting round of feature articles, it's Progress Report time once again! However, a lot has changed. Dolphin has finally left the 5.0 era behind, and has entered the Release Era. Not only did we get our first release in eight years, but we also established a commitment to continuous releases going forward.

For the Reports, things will be more or less the same, but with a few changes.

Progress Reports are now also release changelogs. We'll be going …

Dolphin Progress Report: August, September, and October 2023 2n275s

This past October, Dolphin turned 20 years old since its initial release to the public as an experimental GameCube emulator. It's been a long ride, with twists and turns. I don't know if anyone back in 2003 expected Dolphin not only to still be under active development 20 years later, but to also the GameCube's successor in the Wii.

You might be wondering, where is all the pageantry? The honest truth is that things aren't ready yet. We have a few massive changes on the horizon that we wanted to be …

Dolphin Progress Report: May, June, and July 2023 4s3m6r

It has been a bit of a tumultuous summer for the project, but now things are returning to normalcy. For those who somehow missed it, the Dolphin on Steam project has ceased after between Valve and Nintendo. Though we disagree with their stance and decision, we respect Valve's right to impose whatever restrictions they want within their private storefront. Please read the full article for details.

Fortunately, all that means is that nothing is going to change. We're …

Dolphin Progress Report: February, March, and April 2023 8b3h

It's been a hectic past few months for the project. In addition to the release on Steam, a lot of focus has gone into other major features. While not everything has landed yet, two very important changes to Android did arrive, one of which has been in the works for a couple years!

We're talking about a large scale rewrite to Dolphin's Android Input Handling that will eventually allow it to match the feature set s on Desktop Dolphin builds enjoy. Android s also get another major quality of life …

Dolphin Progress Report: December 2022 and January 2023 2e4o44

We've got a lot of exciting news and features packed into this Progress Report. On top of the normal emulator development, Dolphin's infrastructure has seen a massive overhaul. While most of the work has gone into optimizing our backend and hardware to meet new demands, s may notice some upgrades to facing features like the Dolphin Wiki and FifoCI.

Some focus on the infrastructure doesn't mean there was a slowdown in progress for the actual emulator, though! A bevy of new contributors to the project mixed with the efforts …

Dolphin Progress Report: September, October, and November 2022 156u5x

As we hit the holiday season, our Progress Report might be considered a bit late. A two month report became a three month report as we realized just how much work we had to catch up on. While the usual summer burst of activity didn't come, it seems instead everyone poured their time in throughout the autumn months! There's so many features, performance improvements, quality of life updates, and more that had to be considered.

We're going to have to skip out on some of the smaller updates this time around because …
